Woman Crush Wednesday: Tank and the Bangas

I first came across New Orleans based Tank and the Bangas scrolling down my twitter timeline. As I watched the snippet from their NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert, I was overcome with so many feelings. I felt so much black joy in that moment. I started smiling from ear to ear and grooving in my seat. The melodic tones melted together, like honey sweetening my morning tea. Their voices gave me the same soothing sensation, as I sipped every note to the last drop.

Tarriona “Tank” Ball, the front woman of the group, is a fiery soul wrapped in bubblegum packaging. Her poetic lyrical style and charismatic demeanor shine as she bares all performing. She gives you the feeling that you have known her forever, and experienced each moment along side her.

Let’s not forget Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph, Tank’s right hand girl. The theatrics of the two of them together makes for an eclectic display of black girl magic. I could go on forever about this amazing new addition to the music scene. Just take a look at the videos below and see for yourself!
This Wednesday we’re celebrating Tank and the Bangas. Visit their site here for more info on where you can catch these beauties live. Now clap for the queens!
