Exploring Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward – Riverwalk

Milwaukee’s Riverwalk connects the Historic Third Ward, Beerline B, and Downtown neighborhoods. Most of what you’re going to want to do and see while in Milwaukee is in these three neighborhoods. I didn’t get to enjoy these areas growing up, so it’s much like being here for the first time. I discovered this cute little gallery and shop called Hot Pop while on my Riverwalk stroll. If you love unique gifts and original artwork, you should definitely make your way into Hot Pop.

Hot Pop Gallery and Shop – 201 N. Water St. Milwaukee, WI

Artist of the Month

Every 30 days or so, Hot Pop hosts a local artist’s work in their gallery. During our visit, Lex and I had the pleasure of viewing Whitney Salgado’s work. Her paintings will be up until June 24th. Here’s a little preview.

Supporting Local Artists

The shop’s area where locals are able to post flyers of what’s going on in the city.

Along with the artist of the month, there is also a section of the shop that has Midwestern artist’s work for sale. Much of it is quirky and humorous, like this book of illustrations pictured below called “Fake Ass Rappers” by KPolly. I purchased a postcard with a Jeffrey Dahmer drawing on the front and the back reads, “Wisconsin, we’d love to have you for dinner.” (Sick I know, but I couldn’t resist)

Cool Gifts, Unique Housewares, and Toys!

I literally wanted to buy everything I saw in this store. I mean look at the happy Buddha being a little teapot! I was most in love with the fruit shaped radios and lights. I wish I could just put a bed in this place and never leave. Hot Pop is a must see if you’re a quirky girl like me. But don’t worry, if you can’t come to Milwaukee you can shop online here.
